Tandridge Heights Memorial Care Home

Nursing and dementia care at its best, in the heart of Oxted, Surrey

Tandridge Heights is a modern purpose-built 75-bed care home located in the heart of Oxted, Surrey.

We offer nursing and residential care as well as personalised dementia nursing care in one of Barchester's unique Memory Lane Communities.

Our Memory Lane Community has been specially designed for those living with dementia using colour schemes that easily enable residents to identify areas within the home. We also have feature life skills kitchens where residents can be involved in everyday kitchen activities such as baking and setting the table under supervision and with guidance.

Our home has a wonderful "home-like feel" with furnishings designed with older people in mind, from the sofas and chairs in the living rooms, through to our spacious en-suite bedrooms and beyond, to our landscaped and sensory gardens. In addition to these facilities, residents and their family and friends have a coffee area, hair salon and "cosy corners" to relax and enjoy the views of our gardens. Throughout the home there is a range of communal and dining facilities to suit people who enjoy socializing as well as those who prefer quieter activities.

Our invitation extends to those looking for a nursing and care home, be it now or for the future, short or longer term. Come visit us where you can see for yourself the type of care home we are and meet with our dedicated team who make a difference to our residents' lives, in providing first class nursing, companionship, activities and "home from home" care.

For further information or to arrange to visit please contact us by telephone 01883 715595 or email tandridge@barchester.com

Wii

We all enjoy a good session on the Wii, as many of us still have a very competitive edge. The Wiii also encourages those who are no longer able to take part in their favourite sports to continue doing some, in a slightly different way. This encourages not only feel good factors, but is also a great way to exercise.

Model Building

For those that prefer a quieter and more traditional way of life, some of our Residents this year have taken part in Air fix model building and here we have a Resident who was over the moon with planes. Naturally, careful supervision was in place at all times, which enabled many to re-kindle their childhood memories.

Rusty

For our Residents who prefer an activity with more fluff and frills, here we set to making all sorts of cards to give to family and friends. And, when all is done, there's nothing better than sitting down with your favourite friend Rusty for a nice cup of tea and a catch up.

Easter Egg Making

Another food fest it seems as chocolate and cake are abundant. However, some of our braver residents also took part in making Easter Eggs of various shapes, sizes and styles. Here we have a group of Residents who were making and decorating polystyrene eggs, which were then put on display in the Reception area for all to see.

Mother’s Day & St Patrick’s Day

Who could forget our Mothers on Mother's Day (well, apart from some of us men), Tandridge likes to celebrate all the achievements that many of our Residents have had as Mothers, and often, there's nothing better than a home cooked cake and a glass of sherry. Our thanks to all those that took part in the day, as many volunteers also came in from the local school to play games and chat with everyone. St Patrick’s Day was a thoroughly green day with many exciting events and activities taking part. Some of the staff dressed as elves while the Residents wore as much green as they could for the day. Some of our Residents also have an Irish background and many a conversation was had around their childhoods and roots. The day culminated in a fantastic cake, baked by our very own chef, together with the odd glass of whisky!

Tandridge Heights Events 2013

"4th February 2013 - I would firstly like to place on records my thanks to you and all the staff at Tadridge Heights for the professional, caring and indeed loving way that you looked after my mother during the three and a half years she was with you. The closing days of her life were eased by the respect and dignity she was afforded by you all for which we are, as a familiy, most grateful."

"9th January 2013 - Dear Stuart, I am writing to thank you for attending our mother's creation service. Your presence was appreciated. I would also like to ask you to thank all of your staff at Tandridge (nurses, carers, helpers cleaners and all) for the kind care and attention that they gav emy mother during her stay. I encose a cheque in which I would ask you to buy cakes, chocloates and goodies for your staff as a small thank you."

"7th January 2013 - Dear Stuart, I am writing on behalf of all the family to thank you and your wonderful staff at Tandridge Heights for looking after our family member so well over the past six years. He was very happy to be part of the community there and made many good friends amongst the staff. The treatment he received was excellent and he could not have ended his days in a more caring environment. Thank you to you all."

"Carol's tears were a show of relief at meeting health professionals who although running a business, demonstrated an empathy with her and not just her condition. Your humour struck a perfect note with the three of us, and if your attitude is reflected by the other staff, then we believe Carol will be happy in your care. Carol has a traumatic past; we believe that with your help, the future may a little less daunting."

"Thank you so much to everone at Tandridge Heights for making Betty's final days serene and comfortable. We were always made welcome to visit what ever time of day we came. Your help and expertise was really apprecciated. We send our best wishes to you all."

"Please extend the sincere thanks from the entire family for all the compassionate and loving care you gave her. We are especially grateful for the attention she received during the final days of her life, at all times staff would answer our questions and to us this demonstrated a very high standard of patience and understanding and we thank you."

"Tandridge Heights is the only place worthy of a mention in all that we have been through lately. I don't know what would have happened if it wasn't for your advice and emotional support. I was at my wit's end trying to get Mum discharged from hospital. Please pass on my sincere thanks to all the carers and nurses. She has thrived being with you. Now it's time to take her home and my sincere thanks to all of you. "

"Thank you so much for your kindness, thoughtfulness, encouragement, caring and support to my mother and myself during her stay with you. We are so pleased with everything"

"Just a note on behalf of all the family to thank you for everything you did for our Mum. Tandridge is a very happy place and we shall never forget all that you did for her"

"Thank you for looking after Dad so well during his stay with you. Dad often said how good everyone was and he was not one to give praise often. You helped so much to make every day for him special. Encouraging him to eat, trimming his beard, fixing his walking frame and just caring. Keeping us all up to date with his care and condition and your endless patience with all the family."

"Just wanted to thank all the staff at Tandridge Heights for all your support during the last few months in persuading Mum to come in. Since our Mum joined you she has been like a "New Mum", and we once again have quality time with her. It wasn't fun when she was living at home alone. So from all of us and Mum, thanks again."

"It may interest you to know when our consultant neurologist visited Mum early in her stay, the consultant phoned us afterwards to say how impressed she was professionally with your Memory Lane."

"Please accept these chocolates and to all the staff at Tandridge Heights for providing extra special care, support and encouragement to Dad whilst he was with you on respite. He wants to come back again"

"Your staff have been amazing and you should be very proud of them, they really do love their patients. Their friendliness, kindness, cheerfulness and the chats with Mum really helped her on her road to recovery. We are very lucky to be able to have her back at home but, as and when the time comes, we have comfort knowing she can be with you and be happy."
