Sport's Relief Mile
The Sport's Relief Mile was completed by quite a few of the residents and staff supporting each other !! we walked around the building, six times, throughout the day to complete our mile. Everyone was awarded with a certificate of achievement for their valiant efforts for Sport's Relief Charity.

Wear Red Day at Southerndown
Southerndown held a party for national "Wear Red Day" in aid of The British Heart Foundation. All residents and staff dressed up in red clothing and had a great day wearing red and enjoyed having a 'Bring and Buy' stall with Teas and Cup Cakes, delicious!

Dignity Day at Southerndown
We held our Dignity Day in February and created a "Wish Tree", everyone placed a wish on it, in the hope that we could make as many as possible come true!! Marjorie had wished for a local Baritone to sing to her and "Arthur" came to fulfill that wish by sing some of her favourite Jim Reeves songs, another resident, Jack sang along with Arthur as he used to with his brothers some years ago in Oxford.

Pancake Day Race
Staff members at Southerndown Care Home took the meaning of 'pancake race' to a whole new level when the General Manager and another work colleague hopped onto the gardener's lawn mower to gain a clear advantage in the race. Residents and Carers watched on in fits of laughter. There was, of course a traditional pancake race held between the staff members who surprisingly managed to flip their pancakes all the way to the finish line without dropping a single one! A great day was had by all.
Christmas Time!
We all had a fantastic time here at Southerndown over the festive period - as you can see! Santa made a visit with his elves bringing everyone a present, and we partied!! We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Buffet and dancing to " Jo Jo " and Tony and his Piano.
