Cheltenham Races

Celebrating Cheltenham Races good fun was had by residents having their own horse races! The competitive spirit was high and Audrey pipped Valarie to the post to win the most races of the day. This event was swiftly followed by the St Patricks day Party Where tins of Guinness where consumed while participating in the fun of "toss the Patata! As the Irish would say! Fred won and enjoyed his victory applause washed down with a tad more Guinness!

Making A Dream Come True

To celebrate Dr Cranshaw's 90th Birthday, a resident at Chacombe Park Care Home, a highly regarded Physicist who worked on the famous "Manhattan Project". Whilst working hard providing for his wife and two sons, Dr Cranshaw has always enjoyed his enthusiasm for golf and cars. Dr Cranshaw expressed great delight at the sight of the chauffeur driven Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Dr Cranshaw, Richard and Jo Plotnikoff close friends were treated to a meander through the leafy lanes of Oxfordshire and arriving in style for luncheon at Dr Cranshaw's favourite establishment.

Chacombe Pancake Day

Chacombe Park Nursing Home has marked this year's Pancake Day with residents, families and staff having a very competitive afternoon tossing and turning pancakes, whizzing on wheels and running to the finishing line with much laughter. It was delightful to see so many residents being able to enjoy the outdoor activities whilst getting some lovely fresh air to build up a great appetite for munching on freshly made pancakes with sweet and savoury fillings.

'Ladder to the Moon' visit Chacombe

Residents enjoyed a fun filled day when The Ladder to the Moon Theatre Company helped us produce our production of The South Pacific. A coach arrived with actors, props, a cameraman and the stage was set for a great day of entertainment and the making of wonderful memories. Residents took great delight in acting out scenes such as a romantic scene and a marriage proposal. Ladder to the Moon is a social enterprise company working with Barchester enhancing the positive emotional experiences for residents in supporting the ethos of delivering person centered activities within the home.

The Haleys celebrate 66 years of marriage at Chacombe Park

Peter and Liza Haley, residents at Chacombe were delighted to be surprised with a romantic candle lit luncheon, champagne and flowers to celebrate 66 years of marriage. Peter met Liza at the end of the war in Germany where he was serving as a Captain in the Intelligence corps. On the 5th November 1945 Peter managed to get a five week visa for Liza to visit the UK. Peter and Liza were married just before the visa expired on the 20th December 1945. Peter and Liza's love and devotion continues as they live and enjoy the qualities of Chacombe Park together.
