Starlight supper in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Ashcombe House Care Home held a supper party to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. General Manager Diane Stone invited guests from the community to attend the three course supper prepared by the homes award winning Chef Sonya Bakalova. Diane was delighted that Mayor of Basingstoke David Leeks and his wife Amanda were able to attend and offer there support this worthwhile event. Ashcombe House Care Home has built up an excellent reputation within the local community. The home regularly holds events and activities for its residents and surrounding neighbours.

A celebration of St Patrick's Day at Ashcombe House

An afternoon of entertainment at Ashcombe House presented by Bob Mcghee who played the guitar while the residents and families sang along.

Gardening at Ashcombe

Team Basingstoke' headed by Job Tierney, regional support, very kindly joined us at Ashcombe to prune some shrubs and dig out the weeds in the garden. We had a great day and the gardens now look ready to enjoy over the summer months. Residents and relatives have commented on the difference, there is more work yet to be done but this is great start!

Easter Fun

We had lots of fun on Easter, apart from consuming plenty of chocolate there was a lot of activity making Easter bonnets which were modelled by some of the residents!

St Patricks Day Celebrations

St Patricks day was marked with an Irish meal presented by our fantastic team in the kitchen. The 'Good Companion's' entertained with a variety of songs which got everyone clapping. The Good Companions are a joy to support as they donate there proceeds to the Air Ambulance and Naiomi House Hospice for children.

I graduated from Southampton University with an Advanced Diploma in Adult Nursing. On completion of my Diploma I worked as a Staff nurse on an acute medical ward. I decided I needed to challenge myself further and moved to Intensive Care which I specialised in for eight years. I then decided a move in a different direction, I wanted to join Barchester Healthcare as they are one of the largest providers of high quality nursing services in the country and this would provide me with a new exciting challenge in my professional career. I Joined Barchester Healthcare in January 2011 as Deputy Manager and was very proud to be promoted to General Manager at Ashcombe House Care Home.
