Cumbria in Bloom Competition
This year we entered our gardens in the Cumbria in Bloom Competition. We won two awards! We had a level three in the 'Our Neighbourhood' competition and we came joint first for 'Best Residential Home' in the Rose Lodge Rose Bowl award. So we'd just like to say a great big thank you to everyone at Newlands who have helped make our gardens such a big success this year, keep up the good work!

Music in hospitals concert
Music in hospitals very kindly sent a woodwind trio to play for us this week. The weather was so lovely that we held the concert outside in the sunshine and had ice-lollies afterwards. Residents, friends, family and staff had a great time and we look forward to having them again! We would definitely highly recommend them!

Royal Wedding Celebrations
Our day started with many of our residents glued to the nearest TV. Everyone thought that William looked very handsome in his uniform, but all eyes were on Kate, we all thought she looked gorgeous! They made such a handsome couple as they walked back up the aisle. As the wedding finished around lunch time we decided to have the great British classic Fish and Chips, however instead of disturbing our residents viewing pleasure lunch was brought to them 'take away' style. Which everyone seemed to enjoy.

Royal Wedding Cake Competition
The residents and staff had a great time making and decorating a cake for the Barchester Royal Wedding Cake Competition. We can't wait until the 29th so we can all have a taste!
