Spring Trip
Here is a lovely picture of one of our residents enjoying a morning trip out at Reedsmere! Later on we enjoyed a cup of tea and cake to warm us up!
Gents Club
The ‘gents club’ meet on Friday afternoons at Adlington. On these afternoons activities vary from playing cards, dominoes or even trips out (gents only). This picture shows a couple of our gents playing a competitive game of dominoes while enjoying a cold beer.
Cooking Club
Every Tuesday at Adlington Manor we have our cooking club - where we create some lovely tasty delights! We recently made a lovely batch of ciabatta bread and star cakes - but everyone agreed the best part was sampling all our hard work in the afternoon!!! Yummy!!
"I have often been present when Richard is taking a group session and have also witnessed mums 'magical' individual therapy, when she really comes alive, dancing or moving her arms and legs to interpret the music, completely absorbed and with a huge smile on her face.I cannot praise Richard enough, not only is he an incredibly talented musician, but also an extremely kind, caring, patience and thoughtful person who always shows respect and empathy to the residents.Mum always smiles when she sees him and is always in a lovely mood when she has spent time with him. I know for a fact that he greatly enhances the lives of not only my mum, but many other residents and it is lovely to see them, with much encouragement from Richard, forgetting what is troubling them and losing themselves in the music. It is amazing to see people who are usually agitated or struggling to find words become calm and even able to sing along, when Richard plays the right melodies. "
"Mother was in the care of Barchester for 3 years, suffering from advanced Alzheimers for all of this time. Her condition was compounded with blindness, so her opportunities for sensory pleasure or satisfaction were severely limited. One of her former life pleasures was music and through his outstanding deep understanding and patience, Richard became the focus of any semblance of obvious pleasure she could enjoy through the darkness of her condition. The family and the other dedicated staff had occasion small glimpses of her previous love of life, but it was Richard's unique talents through his use of music that became her one real remaining obvious joy throughout her deteriorating condition. The family are hugely appreciative of the impact that Richard (and Nordoff Robbins) had on mother's final years - we feel he is blessed with a special talent - thank you Richard"
"10th April 2013 - Thank you most sincerely to you all for taking the time and trouble to attend Mum's funeral service. Thank you again so much for your support to me and from all the staff to all of us."

"March 2013 - Thank you very much for making my wife and our Mum's last few months so comfortable. She loved it here and we are all thankful that she was surrounded by such loving and caring staff. We know that the decision we made to place her at Adlington Manor, was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Please thank all the staff for the time, care and love that they shared with her."
"March 2013 - To All the Staff at Adlington Manor, A massive massive thank you for looking after our dad and steering him in the right direction so he is able to come home."
"To all the staff at Adlington manor, words are not quite adequate enough to express my thanks to all the staff for all the wonderful physical and emotional care you gave to Trevor over the past 12 months. It made so much difference in his ability to cope with his illness and made it more bearable. He had a genuine affection for you all and you could always get a smile when I couldn’t! For my self I could not have borne the emotional strain of it all especially over the past 4 weeks without having a shoulder to cry on and of course numerous cups of tea and pieces of the best cake in Adlington. You all do a wonderful job and I have always regarded you as friends and I will never forget. I will still call in at 3’oclock sometimes hoping for a chat and a piece of cake! "
"Novemeber 2012 - To All at Adlington Manor, Thank you so much for caring for my aunty especially those who were personally involved with her care. It was a great relief to us that she had somewhere so lovely to spend her days and we shall be forever grateful to you."
