Richmond

This leafy south-west London borough offers a covetable address, with its residents including many stars of the stage and screen.  The Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley, The Rolling Stones’s Mick Jagger, Pete Townsend of the Who, and the broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough all have homes here.  It’s located on and around the River Thames, with up-market boutiques and a number of historic buildings, including Richmond Palace and Ham House.  Counted among the areas many open spaces and gardens are London’s two largest Royal Parks, Richmond Park, complete with roaming wild deer, and Bushy Park.  Also in the borough is the UNESCO World Heritage Site the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew.  Richmond is an affluent area reporting a high quality of life. In 2010, one of its top restaurants at The Bingham Hotel, whose building dates back to the mid-18^th century, was awarded its first Michelin star.
