Newham

Recent years have seen this north London borough transformed, with Newham among the six host boroughs of the 2012 London Olympics.  Transport links have consequently been improved and updated, and the area has seen significant regeneration, not least in the new Westfield Shopping Centre, next to the Olympic Village in Stratford, which opened its doors in September 2011 and is Europe's largest urban shopping mall.  Beyond the Games, a number Newham's parks, including the 25-acre Central Park in East Ham, Stratford Park and Forest Lane Park in the Wanstead Park area, hold prestigious Green Flag status.  A diverse borough, with one of the highest ethnic minority populations of all the districts in England, it is also home to the population of youth in the country.
