Brent
Covering 17 square miles of North West London, over 260,000 people live in Brent, the 15th largest of London’s 32 boroughs. Starting life as a collection of villages and farms surrounded by fields in the 1700s, by the 19th and early 20th century, it was transformed into a suburb of London thanks to the arrival of the railway and extensive house building which now celebrate a variety of architectural styles and diverse mix of communities. Today, it is perhaps best known for its sporting pursuits, given Wembley stadiums located within the borough. This was the location of England’s historic 1966 football World Cup win and the 1948 Olympic Games. Wembley Arena, located alongside Wembley Stadium, hosts many of the games in London 2012.
