Victory in Europe Day

We celebrated the Anniversary of Victory in Europe, 'VE Day' by hosting a 1940's themed tea dance. Staff from the home wore military uniforms and dress from that era as well as decorating the home. The Norfolk Military Vehicle Group supported the event by displaying military jeeps and vehicles. Entertainment for the tea dance was provided by Felicity Moore singing a range of war time songs and a dance display was performed by the talented Regency Ballroom Dance School. All money raised from the event was donated to The HELP FOR HEROES charity. Joy Michell, Head of Activities, at The Warren said " The event was fantastic, everyone had a brilliant day, the residents said it brought back at lot of memories."

Sports Relief Charity Walk

On Friday 23rd March 2012 seven of our residents at The Warren Care home completed a charity walk to raise money for sports relief. Each resident completed a lap of the home as part of a relay to complete the distance of one mile in the glorious sunshine. Each resident was accompanied by a volunteer. Total so far is £237.50 with more to be collected. In the picture attached are residents ,left to right, Warner Steward, Ann Meyer, Frederick Friend, Peggy Lines, Peggy Weber, Muriel Huggins and Norman Walker. Back row are Brian Howes, gardener and Joy Michell, Activities Coordinator. Members of staff from the The Warren also competed in a space hopper race between the management and staff which resulted in the staff team winning the Easter egg prizes.

Dignity in Action Day

It was Dignity in Action Day on 1st February therefore we held a Pamper Day with the residents receiving a selection of hand, arm, foot and leg massages provided by Julie Harling. Nail care and other beauty treatments were provided by our Head of Activities Joy Michell. There was also a delicious chocolate cake, sparkling wine and a beer for the gents. Dignity in Action Day promotes dignity to those in care by providing choice, control and giving a sense of purpose by providing a stimulating activity.

Christmas Grotto

Elves had been drafted in to create an amazing magic grotto for residents to enjoy over the festive period. Father Christmas surprised us all when he popped down the chimney with a huge sack of gifts. Quite a few staff also enjoyed sitting on Santa's knee!

Tasting Afternoon

We had a food tasting activity session this afternoon. Joy Michelle sought a wide variety of cheeses, biscuits and home made bread for our residents to sample. It seemed to go down a treat.
