Cambridgeshire

Visit Cambridgeshire and it’s like stepping back in time.  Most famous as a university town, Cambridge’s oldest college, Peterhouse, was founded in 1284 and still exists today.  Not quite as old, but still in operation, are Cambridge University’s Colleges - King’s, Magdalene, Trinity and St John’s – which make up a large part of Cambridge’s stunning architecture and have produced some of the countries finest scholars.  With an estimated population of 250,000 today (including over 22,000 students) this part of East Anglia, located 50 miles north of London, has become famous for another reason more recently.  Known as Silicon Fen in business circles – a play on Silicon Valley in the US coupled with the fens surrounding the city – Cambridge now has a growing reputation for being the heart centre of high technology in the UK.
