Northamptonshire

Those who like fast cars and high heels should head to Northamptonshire.  The county is the home of British Formula 1, with the world famous Silverstone racing circuit and racing academy.  By the end of the 19^th century, meanwhile, Northamptonshire was known as the boot and shoe manufacturing capital of the world.  Those industries still thrive today.  Geographically, this landlocked county boasts a number of castles and ruins, including Fotheringhay Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned, and the estate of Althorp, the Spencer family home, where Princess Diana (née Spencer) is buried.  The region’s main towns are Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden and Daventry. The area overall is due to have tens of thousands additional homes built between 2010-2020, as it belongs to the Milton Keynes and South Midlands Growth area of the UK.
