Lincolnshire

The second largest county in England, Lincolnshire is mainly rural and agricultural, with the main areas of countryside being the Lincolnshire Fens to the south, the Carrs to the north, and the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated Area of Natural Beauty.  Along the coast, the county takes in the Humber Estuary and the North Sea coast.  The majority of tourism to the region focuses on the costal resorts and towns, such as Skegness, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes.  At Donna Nook, a protected nature reserve along the Lincolnshire coast, a grey seal colony congregates between October and December to breed every year.  Inside the county town of Lincoln sits its imposing cathedral, stunning castle and Medieval Bishop's Palace.  The 2,000-year-old street Steep Hill in the town’s Bailgate area was awarded the title ‘Best street in Britain 2012’ by the Academy of Urbanism.
