Bluebell Park Care Home

Bringing first-class care to Derby

Bluebell Park is Barchester's newly opened care home in Chellaston.

We provide nursing and residential care services as well as personalised dementia care in one of Barchester's unique Memory Lane Communities.

The Memory Lane Community is specially designed for those living with a dementia using colour schemes that easily enable residents to identify areas within the home, yellow for dining areas for example.

The whole home is designed to create a home-like feel with furnishings designed with older people in mind, from the sofas and chairs in the living rooms to the sculpted gardens. Throughout the home there is a range of communal and dining facilities to suit people who enjoy socialising as well as those who prefer quieter activities.

People are always welcome to visit us and see for themselves.

Mad Hatters Tea Party!

Bluebell Park Care Home in Chellaston enjoyed a jolly, cake-munching, soiree recently when they organised a Mad Hatter's Tea Party to raise funds for Dementia UK's annual Time For A Cuppa event. Over £100.00 was raised as guests tucked in to their afternoon tea, listening to the reminiscent sounds of George Formby and his ukulele and 'Hits from the Blitz'. A resident of the home said " We've had a great time, listening to some of the golden oldies and tucking into tea and home baked cakes, what a marvellous atmosphere and all for such a good cause."

Official opening

Maxwell Craven, historian and writer, officiated the opening of Bluebell Park care home at a VIP ceremony. Maxwell greeted residents and guests before revealing the plaque, formally opening the new home. Everyone was treated to a traditional hog roast and given tours of the purpose built home, run by national care provider Barchester Healthcare. After the tour of the home, Maxwell said: "It's a great pleasure to inaugurate the life of this first Barchester Derbyshire home and I was most impressed by the building."

Design for Life

Bluebell Park is through to the final stages of the Pinders Awards 2011. The new build care home has been selected in the category of 'Elderly and Contemporary Design'. The prestigious healthcare design awards, organised by Pinders, promote and recognise the very best developments in all types of care-related property. Bluebell Park opened in autumn and the official opening ceremony takes place later this month when a special guest will unveil the plaque and warmly welcome residents.
