Barchester staff receive romantic rewards
22/02/2008
Care home staff are rewarded with Valentine's Day awards.

Romance was certainly in the air at the Barchester Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home on Valentine's Day.

Staff at the home were treated to an awards ceremony to celebrate their hard work and achievements over the past year.

The 107-bed care centre was host to a Valentine's themed reception complete with pink sparkling wine and heart-shaped chocolates.

The event was organised by the home's general manger, Helen Lewis, as a way to thank staff for 'going the extra mile'.

Winners in categories including 'Most promising newcomer', 'Making a difference' and 'Most kind hearted', were rewarded with personalised chocolate prizes at the ceremony.

Ms Lewis said: "It's hard to single out any one member of staff for their achievements as they all do such a great job day in day out but we came up with the idea of these awards as a little thank you for their consistent efforts."

The Barchester group provides respite and palliative care for more than 10,000 people in 170 locations across the UK.

Meanwhile, 20 per cent of Barchester care homes were recently deemed 'excellent' by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.

A further 60 per cent of the group's homes were 'good'.
