MP Hague Unveils new local nursing home
11/07/2008
Richmond MP and former leader of the opposition, William Hague today joined local dignitaries at a champagne reception to officially open a state of the art nursing and specialist dementia care community at the Barchester Mount Vale Care Home. The Mount entered public use as a maternity hospital at the birth of the NHS 60 years ago. Mount Vale Care Home now occupies the Grade One listed building formerly known as the Mount Maternity hospital. Barchester Healthcare bought the home last year breathing a new lease of life into this historic land mark in the town, recognising its importance within the local community. William Hague unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion. In a speech he said: ""Mount Vale looks to be a well-appointed and happy establishment. Barchester Healthcare homes operate at the top end of the market and the company obviously has the expertise to care for older people. With regards to Mount Vale, I expect lots of local residents to have very happy and useful lives and long enjoyable stays at the home" Other guests included the Mayor and Mayoress of Northallerton and officials from local charities the Alzheimer's Society, Age Concern and MS Society. Sarah Broadbent, General Manager of Mount Vale said, "Our team of qualified and dedicated staff focus on the individual needs of our clients with a tailored care plan for each person. The staff are committed to providing professional and respectful care and maintaining Barchester's exceptional standards."
