Garden Is Utterly Butterfly

01/10/2008

A new sensory garden for residents and their families was unveiled at Lancaster's Laurel Bank Care Home.

Around 70 residents and guests attended the official opening by Deputy Mayor, Councillor June Ashworth.
The sensory garden, which features a slate water feature, scented plants, grasses, wind chimes and bird feeders is also home to herbs grown by Laurel Bank's own gardening club.

Residents and their families were consulted on what they would like to see in the garden and gardener Geoff Rice then drew up plans.  With these plans Laurel Bank successfully applied for a grant from Barchester Healthcare.

Maintenance Man, David Ingle and Geoff then constructed the new garden.
