A resident of Kenwyn care home celebrated his 102nd birthday yesterday (August 22nd).

Leo Morton enjoyed his special day with residents and staff.

Among those raising a toast to Mr Morton were Ros Pirrie, Reg Smith and Ruby Webber aged 102, 101 and 100 respectively.

The party gathered in The Bedruthan Bar to enjoy some pre-lunch bubbly that was donated by another resident.

After the toast, there was a resounding chorus of Happy Birthday.

The fun continued after the meal with an afternoon tea party on Tresco Unit during which residents enjoyed party games and buffet tea.

Mandy Trotter, the general manager of the home, said the day had been "thoroughly enjoyed by all".

"The party in the afternoon was a huge success. The local press came and took photos.

"We cleared the big lounge and put up tables with trestles. It was like a street party!"

She added: "A fantastic time was had by all."
