Cheshire MP and Shadow Health Secretary Stephen O'Brien joined health professionals at a special champagne reception, to officially open the new care home, Beeston View on Friday, 18th April 2008. Beeston View is a 48-bed 'Memory Lane' facility offering state-of-the-art accommodation and specialist care for people living with dementia. Based in the extensive landscaped grounds of Iddenshall Hall' the new unit complements the home’s existing 24-hour residential care services for elderly and frail residents. Originally a farm house built in the 16th Century' Iddenshall Hall was transformed into a care home in 1986. The new extension enjoys views across the Cheshire countryside and incorporates facilities to encourage independence, interaction and self-esteem among residents, including spacious communal lounges, 'lifestyle' kitchens and specially-developed sensory gardens to promote discovery and help maintain skills. Guests included the local Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Vale Royal and the Sherriff of Chester - who all raised their glasses as a commemorative plaque was unveiled by Mr. O'Brien.
