Chorleywood residents raise £400 for cancer charity
22/11/2007
Residents and staff of Chorleywood Beaumont are celebrating after raising £400 for charity.

Residents and staff of Chorleywood Beaumont are celebrating after raising £400 for charity.

The money is going to Macmillan Cancer Support and was raised through a charity auction.

Lots included portraits by local artists, meals in local restaurants, vouchers for personal fitness training, furniture and autographs from Eastenders actors.

The cheque was presented to the charity at an evening party.

General manager Shaun Canavan heralded the auction and presentation evening as hugely successful. "Macmillan Cancer Support were delighted with the money we raised," he said.

And one representative gave the care home the biggest compliment possible.

"The lady who received the cheque even said she wants her name to be put down for future residency!" Mr Canavan revealed.

Founded in 1911, Macmillan Cancer Support has adopted the principles of being a 'source of support' and a 'force for change'.

As one of the UK's biggest charities, it raises around £90 million each year.
