Winchester Stroke Club was recently presented with £764 by residents and staff at Challoner House Care Home in Eastleigh.

Winchester Stroke Club was recently presented with £764 by residents and staff at Challoner House Care Home in Eastleigh.

The home elected the Stroke Club as the beneficiary of its staff lottery, open to staff at all Barchester Care Homes.

The Stroke Club is a social club for those affected by stroke, run by a small group of volunteers. Some of Challoner's residents are regular attendees at the club, making this a cause close to their hearts.

Marigold Paul, Winchester Stroke Club organiser, said: "We were delighted to receive this money from Challoner House.

"We hope to use the money to expand the social activities for our members to include some new DVDs and bring more live entertainment to the centre."

Lorraine Dent-Magusson, Challoner House general manager, said: "This has been a wonderful opportunity to show support and thank the Winchester Stroke Club for all that it has done for our residents and others within our community.

"We are working towards opening up the care home's own wide activities programme to involve those who attend the Stroke Club."copyright
