Care Home commemorate local woman at time capsule

24/09/2007

Local officals of Ipswich today buried a special time capsule on the site of a new extension for the Alice Grange Care Home building. They were joined by relatives to commemorate the woman who once owned the farmland on which the care home now sits.

Alice Jolly lived at The Farm House from 1923 until her death in 1956, devoting herself to the Kesgrave area of Ipswich and dedicating hours of charity work to the local community. Her nephew, Patrick Jolly, Town Council Chairman John Briggs and June Gosling of the Women’s Institute were present to plant the capsule.
