Barchester in Bloom
Gardens play a big part in the lives of Barchester's residents, in terms of aesthetic and therapeutic value and are a valuable aid to enhance the general quality of life of the 10,000 people who live in Barchester care homes across the UK.
Barchester in Bloom is our nationwide gardening competition which promotes the imaginative planting of flowers, trees and shrubs in the gardens of our care homes.
The competition was launched in 2005 by celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock and it gives the gardeners, staff and residents of our homes the opportunity to showcase their gardening skills across a number of categories. Hundreds of staff, residents and relatives have taken part in the competition.
Competition categories include:
- Best Front Garden
- Best Sensory Garden
- Best Resident's Garden or Project
- Best Hanging Basket
- Best Creative Design
