Barchester home awarded top marks for care

Inspection gives home highest care rating.

A Barchester care home has been given top marks by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), it is reported.

Bucks Free Press says Shelburne Lodge in Rutland Street, High Wycombe, was awarded the three-star rating following an assessment of the quality of its staff and its provision of care.

It reports the care home is enjoying a double-celebration, as its head housekeeper Rachel Weatherill last week made it through from 14,000 employees to the final 30 of the national Barchester Carers Award.

Pam Carmichael, the home's manager, praised Ms Weatherill, saying she "works constantly and tirelessly, loves the residents and is a huge asset to the home".

Wycombe mayor Paul Lambourne greeted the three-star CSCI rating given to Shelburne Lodge, saying: "They should be congratulated."

Last week, a new Barchester care home in Suffolk was opened by Ipswich Town footballers Alan Lee, Danny Haynes and David Wright, the Evening Star reported.

The 84-bed Alice Grange care home is based at Ropes Drive, Kesgrave.
