Barchester care home in week-long celebration

Barchester News

Several days of fun for staff and residents at Barchester care home!

Staff and residents at Barchester's Prestbury Beaumont Care Community have enjoyed a week-long event during which they celebrated life in Prestbury village.

The event was held to mark the home's entry into the Barchester national chef competition, which sees all 170 homes pitting their culinary wits against one another, with the aim of reaching the Masterchef-style grand final in November when celebrity chef Paul Rankin will judge the meals of six finalists.

Residents and staff enjoyed a variety of activities as part of the Celebrating Life in Prestbury Village event, which included flower arranging, carriage rides around the village, talks given by local historians and entertainment from the local school choir.

Villagers also came to chat to residents about life in the local community, with the event neatly matching the Celebrating Life theme of this year's national chef competition.

Head chef at the home Nicky Barnard will be striving to reach the latter stages of the contest with her creative menu - and may have gained confidence from the home's success earlier this year when it achieved the Barchester Healthcare Five-Star Dining Award.

Meanwhile, Prestbury Beaumont Care Community is preforming well in another national competition - it has just been revealed that the home has reached the semi-finals of the Barchester in Bloom gardening contest.
